The Museum of London found this recording of Cromwell Wall and his family celebrating Christmas in 1904. He recorded the audio on wax cylinders.

I just came across these everyday sounds of London from 1960! These were collected by Samuel Barclay Charters, an American. And they are brilliant to compare to the sounds of the city today.
I think I’m going to revisit some of these and make some modern day versions. There’s no way I’ll find a pub that sounds like this one!
